LEMBAGA KEUANGAN MIKRO SYARIAH : SUATU PENGANTAR DAN PERANNYA DALAM PEMBANGUNAN EKONOMI
Abstract
Islamic Microfinance Institutions (IMFIs) have emerged as a powerful mechanism to foster inclusive growth and combat poverty, especially in Muslim-majority regions. Unlike conventional microfinance institutions, IMFIs operate based on Shariah principles, emphasizing risk-sharing, ethical finance, and social justice. This study aims to explore the foundational concepts, operational mechanisms, and socioeconomic impacts of IMFIs. Using a mixed-methods approach—quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with key stakeholders—we examine how IMFIs contribute to local economic development and financial inclusion. The research findings highlight that IMFIs not only enhance access to financial services but also empower marginalized groups through value-based financing, such as qard al-hasan and mudarabah. The results also indicate that IMFIs are positively associated with micro-entrepreneurial growth, increased household income, and reduced vulnerability to financial shocks. However, the study identifies critical challenges, including limited outreach, inadequate regulatory frameworks, and sustainability issues. Based on these findings, policy recommendations are proposed to enhance the strategic role of IMFIs in national development agendas.
