KAJIAN PENDEKATAN BAYANI, IRFANI, DAN BURHANI DALAM STUDI ISLAM: SEBUAH ANALISIS EPISTEMOLOGIS INTEGRATIF

Abstract

This study critically examines the Bayani, Irfani, and Burhani epistemological approaches within Islamic studies, addressing the contemporary imperative for their integration. Historically, these distinct methodologies—Bayani (textual), Burhani (rational-empirical), and Irfani (intuitive-spiritual)—have often operated in isolation, leading to fragmentation and intellectual rigidity in certain domains of Islamic thought. This paper argues that an integrated framework is crucial for fostering religious maturity and effectively addressing complex modern challenges. Employing a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative conceptual analysis of seminal philosophical texts with quantitative bibliometric analysis of scholarly trends, this research systematically analyzes the definitions, characteristics, methodologies, philosophical foundations, and historical contexts of each approach. It explores their nuanced differences and inherent interrelationships, identifying specific research gaps, particularly concerning the under-explored potential of the Irfani approach. The findings demonstrate that a dynamic, complementary, and circular interplay among these epistemologies, guided by overarching teleological principles such as maqasid al-syari'ah, can lead to a more comprehensive, holistic, and ethically grounded understanding of Islamic knowledge. This integrated perspective offers a robust intellectual toolkit for navigating the complexities of the modern world, bridging perceived dichotomies between science and spirituality, and contributing to civilizational renewal.
