KAJIAN PENDEKATAN BAYANI, IRFANI DAN BURHANI DALAM STUDI ISLAM
Abstract
This study explores the epistemological approaches of Bayani, Irfani, and Burhani in Islamic studies, each representing a distinctive method of understanding religious texts and truths. The Bayani approach emphasizes textual interpretation grounded in authoritative linguistic and juridical traditions, often associated with classical Islamic scholarship. In contrast, the Irfani approach prioritizes intuitive, spiritual, and esoteric experiences as sources of knowledge, typically found in Sufi and mystical traditions. Meanwhile, the Burhani approach relies on rational, logical, and empirical reasoning, aligning closely with philosophical and scientific methods. By comparing these three frameworks, this paper highlights their respective strengths, limitations, and relevance in contemporary Islamic thought. The study concludes that a dialogical integration of these approaches may enrich Islamic scholarship and provide a more holistic understanding of faith and reason in the modern era.
