TANTANGAN DAN STRATEGI PENGELOLAAN PENDIDIKAN AGAMA ISLAM NON FORMAL MAJELIS TAKLIM DALAM MENINGKATKAN LITERASI KEISLAMAN DI RAMBUNG DALAM BINJAI SELATAN
Abstract
Non-formal Islamic education through majelis taklim plays a vital role in shaping the character, morality, and spiritual understanding of the community. Amid limited access to formal education, majelis taklim serves as a primary medium for enhancing Islamic literacy among society. However, in Rambung Dalam, Binjai Selatan, the management of majelis taklim faces several challenges, such as low human resource capacity, minimal participation from the younger generation, inadequate infrastructure, and lack of innovation in teaching methods. The aim of this study is to identify the challenges faced by majelis taklim and formulate effective management strategies to improve Islamic literacy within the community. This research adopts a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed through reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing, strengthened by source and method triangulation. The findings reveal that the strategies implemented by majelis taklim managers include establishing cross-community coordination forums, utilizing digital media, diversifying learning materials, and involving youth in creative teams. These strategies have successfully increased community participation and strengthened contextual and applicable understanding of Islamic teachings. The conclusion of this study emphasizes that effective majelis taklim management requires a participatory approach, based on local wisdom and adaptability to technological developments. Properly managed majelis taklim not only enhances Islamic literacy but also fosters critical awareness and sustainable religious character in society. Thus, majelis taklim can act as a significant agent of social change, relevant to contemporary needs and lifelong learning.
