Abstract

Jumlah fi‘liyah is one of the fundamental sentence structures in Arabic grammar, consisting of a verb (fi‘il), subject (fa‘il), and other complementary elements. Although it is a basic topic in Arabic language learning, many students experience difficulties in understanding and applying jumlah fi‘liyah correctly. This article aims to examine the types of difficulties faced by students in understanding jumlah fi‘liyah as well as the factors influencing these difficulties in Arabic language learning. This study employs a library research method by analyzing Arabic grammar books, Arabic language education journals, and relevant previous studies. The results indicate that students’ difficulties include understanding the concepts of fi‘il and fa‘il, changes in i‘rab, differences between jumlah fi‘liyah and jumlah ismiyah, as well as limited mastery of vocabulary and grammatical rules. In addition, less varied teaching methods and overly theoretical approaches further exacerbate students’ difficulties. Therefore, contextual and practical learning strategies are needed to improve students’ understanding of jumlah fi‘liyah.
