Abstract

High-quality test items play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and meaningful assessment of students’ learning outcomes. Poorly constructed test items may lead to biased measurement, misinterpretation of students’ abilities, and ineffective instructional decisions. This study aims to examine techniques for constructing high-quality test items, focusing on the rules for writing multiple-choice, essay, and true–false questions, as well as procedures for item analysis and revision. This research employs a qualitative library research method by reviewing relevant textbooks, scientific journals, and educational assessment standards. The findings indicate that well-designed test items must adhere to content validity, construction principles, and language clarity. Furthermore, systematic item analysis and revision significantly improve test reliability and validity, thereby enhancing the overall quality of educational assessment.
